First Day of Cycling Around Europe

Day 1, Paris-Melun ,  short ride.

When I woke up “this morning “, it was 1pm! I never slept so long before, I felt shocked when I was checking the time on my phone, I thought it was only 8 in the morning, it’s probably because that I haven’t sleep well for a week since I arrived in Las Vegas, always went to bed around 2am and got up by 7. Paris has 15 hours daylight from 6:39 to 21:30, so people sleep pretty late as well, but even I got up pretty late I know I still have 8 hours to ride before sunset, so I started my first day riding in Europe at 2pm.

I only made a brief plan last night , just know which way am I heading, I know I can’t make too much plans because I keep changing them on the road.

The traffic in Paris is not so good, only a very narrow bike lane and the drivers and motorcyclist don’t show enough respect for cyclists, they never wait pedestrians or cyclists at the crossroads, i missed America at that point. But maybe this happens very common in every big city, especially in downtown.

The flock of birds

I rode along the river for a few miles after i left the center of Paris

Its one of the most famous Chinese hotel, can’t believe they have a branch at here.

I followed the trails and fields most of the time

It rained several times today, but only for a short time, when I was riding along the fields, the dark clouds threatened a big storm , I had to speed up trying to escape from the dark clouds

But it still came, first some drops then the heavy rain poured down from the sky!

There was no shelter on the fields, I prayed for the miracles coming, just after that I saw the traffic light! That was the sign of building, the sign of hope! I sped up and found a big roof.

It was still 30 kilometers from the place I should head tonight, I was freeking cold and didn’t know when should the rain stop so I just searched the nearby Couchsurfing host and decided to just head 10 more kilometers to get there.

Even just pinged for last minute but this nice French guy still accepted my request and made me sweet dinner.

He has a big garden so he made everything out of his garden.

First the appetizer wine, he made it with those leaves, tasted so fresh!

Then the soup, made from some kind grass

Entrée is pasta with tomato garlic sauce

I never see the carrot as tiny as this. I thought its the candy

He even made the desert with Rhubarbe and orange skin

It may not look attractive, not tastes really good! Cold, sweet and sour!I really like the way how they eat slow and healthy .

After dinner, he researched the map with me, pointed out some interesting place, that’s why I don’t make plans, locals’ suggestions are always the best plan!
